My full grown male Appleyard duck is breathing through his mouth and making a hoarse noise when he exhales. I dont see anything blocking his nostrils or tracheal opening. This just started tonight. I wonder if he ate something that scratched his throat or inhaled something.

He was better this morning so I think he just had something stuck in his throat. He tends to cough a bit though, mostly after drinking water.

Best to keep an eye on him lots of stuff out their to breath in this time of yr and nibble on too, so hopefully it will get better as the day goes on. Ducks are pretty resistant to internal worms because of their high body temp. but that doesn't mean it's not impossible to get them. Glad to hear he's better today.
