Hobby talk

Here is a picture of the jean rag quilt I finished. I think it turned out better than I thought it would, note to self, with the ragging first wash take to laundry mat, yeah had a washer full of little threads, but I did take it to the laundry matt to dry it. So there are a few spots that need more ragging time, could brush it out but another wash will take care of that, since it ragged out very well with one wash.
I even incorporated pockets into it.

That is awesome Chrissy!!!! Very pretty! Thank you, its a lot of work but I enjoy doing it. I like to experiment with different things on wreathes! I've come up with a few nice ones. I have one that is called America, it has red, white and blue stars and flags on it. I'm having a tough time figuring out the flags, but I will get it figured out. I havent worked on it in a while.... been busy making the baby booties for my daughters baby shower. :D
I really like that wreath....

I think I passed out by 10 pm!!!!!!!!!!! I dont know what time my kids went to bed. They had a blast
Hi, sorry about the gkid, just took it for granted,

I just knew you'd be knocked out before them. I love all the crafts posted, see I just am not a crafty person, I can't come up with the ideas like the Christmas wreath wrapped in a boa, how smart and your Halloween wreath so pretty . I can't crochet either, wish I could. There are some really pretty crocheted ornament I'd love to have on my tree

I have to admit that I stole the boa idea from one I saw at a craft fair, most of my crafting ideas come from looking at what others do (online or at fairs) I just love making stuff.

That quilt is beautiful! I used to know how to sew but some how lost my skill, got a very inexpensive sewing machine for Christmas a few years ago and thought I'd try quilting, but have yet to figure out how to use the machine, (the needle broke the last time i tried, LOL)

Awe don't worry about the gkid comment. I do have gkids though. My gkids are 8,6,5,1 and two on the way!!! :( The oldest kids are killing me having all these babies! But I realized Friday evening when we got home, I can not walk for hours and hours like I used to.

I have to find some more ornament patterns to make. I love to decorate my tree with all different styles of ornaments.

Wow how wonderful all those gkids and more to come, I just love babies and mine have not even started, the youngest of the kids is 25 and he is not interested yet, he's the one in the Navy and is career focused, maybe when they do start they won't stop

but they have to get married first, darn no gkids in my near future, step son is 30, I don't see wife or kids in his future, he has a girl but he doesn't want a wife or kids, I don't know. I shouldn't have stopped at 2 kids myself oh well no do overs here

I remember now you are in the ornament swap, I know itsmechrissy is too, last year I made quilted ornaments if you join again maybe we will be picked for each other to swap and I'll make you one, they are no sew and fast to make. you had me but I didn't have you. My Christmas tree is all handmade ornaments of some sort and hallmark. But I have yet to receive my first crocheted ornament I keep hoping the luck of the draw will come someday!!!

Itsmechrissy you should give your sewing machine another try, check your bobbin is in properly and if you didn't leave in a pin and try and sew over it I'd check bobbin and threading of your machine, needles shouldn't break if pins aren't involved, tho I do sew over my pins!! but then I do have a stash of machine needles, oh and check to make sure your machine needle is in correctly, I did that once took my machine into to be checked because it just wasn't doing right, yeah needle was in backwards.

Thanks for the tips! I really did use to know how to sew, took home "ec" in 7th and 8th grad, made my self some clothes when in high school; of course that was over 30 years ago :-(

Once I find a few hours spare time I plan on breaking out the sewing machine again, I have great plans for making all sorts of crafty things with it. Think I bought some new needles for it but can't seem to find them, guess their not too expensive so can't hurt to pick up a few more.

I've always enjoyed sewing without a machine more than with one, used to do some embroidery too. I just started doing some crafting using that involves hand sewing and look forward to doing more (got a ton of felt to make felt ornaments with). I love the ornament swap, because they are small and done quickly ornaments are really fun to make (I'm not very patient when it comes to seeing the finished product! )

I used to embroider too, easy to get away from and I made my clothes and the kids clothes, but I decided I'd made enough and am learning to quilt, oh made shorts for my DH, enjoyed making my clothes and the kids clothes you can get creative there but DH's just want the no fuss stuff boring

. I macrame plant hangers too that is a dead art, not too many macrame-rs around anymore.

katsdar, I used to do embroidery also, I have a few "phd's" (projects half done) in that department also. I got a few of them for Christmas, but couldn't work on them when Julia (she's 13) was a baby...she wanted to play with my thread!

And I would have a tangled mess. Now that she's older maybe I can get my stuff back out.....and try to remember where I left off.
I don't have room for a sewing machine yet... but DH said when we get the new house built he is going to add a separate room for my crafting...I will finally have storage!!!!

I'm branching out with my crocheting, and experimenting with crocheting beads in my projects. I'll post pictures if I like how they turn out.
