Hola, me llamo Mike!
My wife and I live in Salinas, Ecuador but are currently back in the USA to visit family. We are moving into a new house when we get back to be closer to the land we are buying and building on and it looks like I will be able to have chickens at our new rental house! There are no regulations against having chickens in Ecuador and they roam the streets pretty freely along with ducks but we have not had space for them in previous houses for gardens and in my mind chickens and gardens go hand in hand!
I am trying to find any info i can before going back as i have found that though there is plenty of great local knowledge in Ecuador there is also alot of "wive's tales" info going around!
I am sure I will be spending plenty of time looking around here (learning and researching are my favorite parts of new hobbies) but if anyone can point me in the right direction for finding tropics specific information that would be great!

Hi and :welcome

That's awesome that you want to get chickens. Here are a couple of threads that deal with raising chooks in tropical climates:

https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/22320/coop-design-for-tropical-climate
https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/677817/raising-chickens-in-a-tropical-climate

I got those from doing a search, you should just type anything you need into the search bar and there'll be old threads you can browse through, or alternatively, post your own questions.
I live in Australia, so it's (kind of) tropical. The chickens do okay in the heat as long as they have shade and water.

I hope you find all the info you need here! :D
