Hola from Ecuador!

Hi and
welcome-byc.gif

That's awesome that you want to get chickens. Here are a couple of threads that deal with raising chooks in tropical climates:

https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/677817/raising-chickens-in-a-tropical-climate
I got those from doing a search, you should just type anything you need into the search bar and there'll be old threads you can browse through, or alternatively, post your own questions.
I live in Australia, so it's (kind of) tropical. The chickens do okay in the heat as long as they have shade and water.
I hope you find all the info you need here!

Thank you for those links! I am familiar with forums and how to search but it is hard when you dont know enough to even begin searching!

I can usually find answers to whatever I need, even by typing the whole rambling question into the search box. There's a pretty good chance, with so many people, that someone's asked the same question before :lau
Anyway, enjoy the site. :D

Hoja,
We live in Malacatos and have the same concerns....what chickens are available here?? Our neighbor has banttys and although pretty, the eggs are small and the birds wouldn't make much of a meal! The local feed stores have chicks for sale but I haven't ask what kind they are. I don't speak real good Spanish and maybe when my new dictionary gets here it may help. We will probably have our farm ready to move onto next dry season so I have some time for research. Anyone with suggestions please respond and anything I find out, I will do the same.
Choa for now.......Kris
