(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I'm not new to chickens. I grew up with them when I was 7 years old and now I have my very own flock as an adult.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
We had 6... And then 6 more hatched from big mama Truffles! So, 12.
(3) What breeds do you have?
4 bantams (excluding the 6 babies) and 2 Orpingtons.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
The bonding I get to do with the birds. I have autism so I tend to do better with animals than people. Having my chickens and ducks has really eased my anxiety and my PTSD from way back when I was in a car accident. They get me out more and as an aspiring zoologist, I enjoy 'studying' them and their natural behaviors.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Art, reading, and writing.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
2 dogs, Sam (F Lab) and Buddy (M Chipoodle)
3 cats, Dove (F American Shorthair), Tipsy (F American Shorthair), and Indie (F Tabby)
Stryker (M Blue Tongue Skink)
4 ducks, Bubbles (F Pekin), Sweetlove (F Pekin), Lilo (F Unknown), and Stitch (M Unknown)
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
Tbh, I discovered this while googling various things about chickens.
