i just went to my duck pen to find that one of my ducks is limping and favoring her right foot. I went to check it out and her foot has a small hole in it. I felt it and it feels hot like it may be getting infected or something. I would appreciate any advice I can get!!

Bumblefoot? I’m new here so idk how to get the links but search it up in the top and I’m sure there will be plenty of posts. Pretty sure it’s a type of staph infection and needs to be soaked in an epsom salt bath if it is bumblefoot. Good luck, hope he she gets better

I’ll try that! Thank you!

Sorry, I meant like a tear (autocorrected to year). I would clean it with warm soap and water and apply antibiotic ointment. I’m not sure how tricky this will be to keep clean, since ducks like (need?) to be in water. Can you post a photo of the foot?

I’ll definitely try! Here is a picture.

this part here looks swollen to me, it may be part of the issue. Could be the start of bumble foot there. If it were me I would soak her feet/foot in Epsom salts and apply clear iodine to both places just before bed time and put her on clean bedding for the night. Re assess and repeat daily bandage if necessary.
