Hole in my Ducks foot?

I checked on my white layer duck yesterday and there was a small hole in it's foot. Any possible ways this could happen? hope to get pics soon.

Do you mean in the pad of her foot or the webbing? my drake has a small hole in his foot[ webbing] probably stepped on something sharp, we live in the mountains and have more rocks than the law allows. And

One of my pekin girls has two small holes in her webbing too.

One of our girls has a hole in her webbing, too. She came to us that way. I just assume she stepped on an upright stick or a rock sometime at her previous home.

is it a perfect circle? i read in one of the raising ducks books thats how some ppl used to brand them with a hole puncher. to mark there best of stock for breeding when they grouped their ducks up with other birds
