Hole in Wall.. new baby chicks nearby

Just to clarify, the rodents are getting into the wall through the roof. A bad hailstorm a couple of months ago damaged the roof. The new roof is being installed next week. I have been hearing them scurry around the attic for the past two weeks but didn't think they would/could go down the walls. At the moment, this is my current rat trap:

She does not move from the position. This morning, I found three tiny toy mice sitting next to the hole.

Cat will need to be wormed. Rodents carry worms bad. I recommend the drops that go on neck. Drops worm continuously for 30 days. Is very good cat, you very lucky! My cat Cochise is also great rodent killer. He not eat, but save to put on my bed! :-[

There actually hasn't been any activity since the duct tape went up. We heard noises that first day, but I'm assuming that he must have run back up the wall into the roof. The roofers are arriving on Thursday. I will watch the cats for worms. Thank you for that suggestion. I don't think my inside cats have eaten one, but my neighbor's cat drug one out of my garage so I'll let her know. I did check the 'humane' mouse trap in my garage last night. I didn't check it all weekend since after two weeks and no mouse.. I didn't think it was effective at all. BUT! Last night, a mouse was in there.. dead. I think it was from dehydration.. which makes me question how humane that is. The trap makes it hard to see if there is a mouse in there unless you pick it up and hold up to the light.

The good news, though, is that the babies are doing great! They turn a week old today. No signs of a snake so it must have been a rodent. Thanks everyone!!

I hear you on that. I have a multi catch trap and always have dead mice in it. I hate holding it up to look inside.

When it comes to rodents around my castle, I find that sticky traps with a sunflower seed placed in the middle usually works. I also use the old victor snap traps, in fact caught one in my barn over the weekend. Bait with peanut butter and any nut that you have handy, also a piece of chocolate also works. Good luck.
