Hi everyone. I needed to get some information. I have seen a raccoon, a possum in my chicken coop area & caught one possum with a trap. My new visitors are smart and I haven't been able to trap them & now something has dug a hole under my coop. the hole was about 3 inches in diameter and at least 3-4 foot deep.Does anyone know what it could be?

If you have seen both a raccoon and an opossum already it is probably one of those coming back for free food.
Get the holes covered up asap before they break in.

Burying hardware cloth a foot deep all the way around should help keep them out.

I somehow doubt a raccoon/possum could dig a 3 INCH in diameter hole that was 3-4 feet long! But, I have been wrong before!

@ChickenHobbyFarmer do you have weasels in your area?

At the end of the day it won't matter what actually dug it.
It will be back.
You have to prevent it happening again.
(That was my original point)

Yeah, if one thing is for sure any animal who thinks they’re found where to get free food will keep coming until it either gets to be too much work or flat out impossible... reminds me of my family members.
