Can I ask please we have our chickens in an old adapted shed with a run enclosed. What do people do with the chickens if they go on holiday. UK thank

The one time we went away while we had the in-town chickens our adult kids didn't come with us so they looked after the chickens in exchange for fresh eggs.

Best to have someone who knows chickens come and look after them.

I have as much of the coop functions automated as I can, enough for short trips so no need for someone to take care of them. Even with that I would still want a trusted friend, neighbor, family member, come over to check on them in case something goes wrong.

Just two or three days - make sure you have sufficient water and that it is secure so that it could not tip over and drain away. Generally I only feed enough for the day, but if gone, I set up a self feeder, set it up a day or two ahead of time, to make sure it works. I leave the chicken door open all the time, so no change there.

If I am going to be gone more than that - I have someone else check on them. My biggest fear is water.
