Holy Exploding Rotten Egg in the Incubator Batman!!!!

Yuck! Well, I would say you need to get that clean, pronto. I have a mixed clutch meaning, my son decided we 'must add more eggs' two weeks after the others were set. (little farmer already <3 ) So the first set hatched, and I put the remaining eggs in a soft towel lined bowl to keep the heat in. I poured vinigar and baking soda in and cleaned and scrubbed gently. It worked pretty well. For the final cleaning, I will use a bleach solution of 9 parts water to one part bleach. You could use the bleach solution to clean and still continue to incubate. Just rinse it out well. Be sure not to get any water in the electric components. Then you can put the eggs back in and go about your normal hatching business. And as for the husband, Tell him "Just think of all the money we'll save on farm fresh eggs, honey!"

I am new to hatching and have a possibly rotten egg question. I am on day 14 and can smell a bit of something slightly smelly in the incubator. Does that mean I have one starting to rot or do eggs start to put off a little smell as they are incubating? I candled all (except some blue ones and maran eggs which I can't see into!) on day 12 and removed clears and 4 that looked to have died. Might I have a bad egg and if so, how can I tell? Would I see something different inside it or should I just smell them all and see if one is giving off an odor? Thanks!
