So we have had Severe Coon trouble this year. yes I know I need to get a good dog. anyway we have taken out 13 coons and thought the problem was starting to be contained then about 3 weeks ago my best Sid Taylor hen went missing without a trace . a few days after that our favorite rooster was killed in the pen. I still cant figure that one out. I got home yesterday and while feeding I hear the sound of chicks and follow the sound to find our missing hen with five new Sid Taylor chicks. The best part however was the nest she had made out of coon fur! yep Coon Fur it was everywhere and other than a few scrapes she is fine. I cannot believe she fought a coon off while setting on a nest.

She is a Sid Taylor the only hen I have ever had with spurs. I guess i should have taken pictures of my other Sid Taylor hen that was attacked by a coon she made it and never even stopped laying eggs while in segregation healing. in fact she is still seperated i dont want the other chickens bothering her. they are the toughest birds I have ever owned.

Hah, I assumed you meant her name was Sid Taylor. That's a variety of American Game, right? I'm terrible with remembering the different strains, it seems like there are thousands of them. Heck, there probably are.

EDIT: Oh my, they are beautiful.
