Holy Moly Egg

My Leghorn layed this whopper today, over 3oz. Pic is shown along side her 1st pullet egg. Hope she will be okay. My favorite RIR layed an egg as big or bigger and died a week later.

Dont worry to much As long as she is eating and acting normal she will be ok. I have had my chickens lay eggs like that before

One of mine laid similar eggs (each over 3 oz) for 10 days in a row. One day she laid 2. Then she stopped laying altogether and 2 days ago I found her dead in her coop. I wish I knew of a way to prevent it in case it happens with another.
