Hi , I'm in the process of building my home built incubator and seem to have lost all my files on heaters ?? Does anyone have any suggestions ?? I recall a wire with porcelain posts ? that I was looking at , but once again it seems to have gotten lost . Any suppliers of heaters etc would be greatly appreciated ................thanks

My brother built our incubator, but I don't know what he used. I'll ask him and let you know later.

He said he just used a lightbulb and a thermostat that controls the temperature and turns the light on and off.

I built a hatching box where I would put the eggs from the turner so that they could hatch out in and used the light bulb with a dimmer switch method .....................which worked well except we were going through some bad weather and if there was a power failure ( about one to five minutes .......due to lightning ......the lights wouldn't turn on except if I reset the dimmer switch ??? Very frustrating when you are not home when it happens .I want to go away from the light bulb method and rather go with something different .

Has anyone tried using a heater and thermostat from a GQF Hova-bator?

I'm interested in building an Incubator and thought about trying this.

To the OP: I read somewhere (interwebs, not BYC) that someone had used a heating pad to heat there Incubator.

I would imagine that using the heater and thermostat from a Hova-Bator with work fairly well given the size if the 'Bator wasn't too big....

how do you use the heat tape... i have the 3" stuff... do i coil it up or something...? or just tape it against the wall and have the fan blow air by it...?
