You might also try a local feed store that sells chicks. Sometimes they will take them to resell. I just gave three roosters to a feed store in Petaluma to re-home. I heard that two have already gone to a woman her lost two of her pet chickens.
 
We also live in SCV and woke this morning and realized we have a roo too! Who/where did your roo go? We were thinking of calling the Gentle Barn?
