Well I've been at college now for just over a month and FINALLY got to go home this weekend.
Lol, my parents laughed at me but as I pulled into my driveway I threw my car into park, threw open the door and ran right to the coop!!
My darlings were so big! I couldn't believe it!!
So after much snuggling I noticed we were two RIR roosters short. Unfortunately my dear Nugget and Pat just got too rough with the hens and dad thought it best to dispatch them. Sad, but what's done is done.
So all was left was my Little Poppy, who in their absence has blossomed into a BEAUTIFUL, caring boy. He was always the submissive rooster of the bunch and was rather flighty, so I squatted down with a piece of leaf in my hand and made some little clucks and what not. He cocked his head at me, strutted over then laid his head straight out and put his wings down, the same way our hens do when they want to be picked up. So I picked him up and snuggled him pretty hard and he clucked and cooed the same way they do, it was wonderful!!! I was so amazed at how big everyone has gotten in just a month!!! So then I put him down and he carried on his way! A few minutes later I started walking toward the door and our awful little bannie rooster decided my foot was a threat? So he started flogging the heck out of it! (not that I care, he's so little and a good guard roo) Next thing I know Little Poppy (Big Poppy now?) comes running out of NOWHERE! Puts little McMillian in his place with one swift smack and then calmly struts away. He has transformed into such a gentleman!!!
