Thomas spent hours in his office, finding people to hire online. So far everything had been very successful, so he should have new staff in no time that'd hopefully work more than the others did. Before when he hired staff, he was just desperate for anybody to get this place going, but now he had the ability to actually think things through a little more.

By the time he closed his laptop it was already hours past dinner. Though he wasn't hungry, just tired, so that wasn't a problem. So, since work was done for the day, he left his office and headed to his room.

Janette chuckled. "Yeah, it's pretty bad. Hopefully they'll improve the kitchen area and food soon." She sat down across from Emily and set her notepad down. "If it's all right with you, we can discuss what I came to talk about now."
Emily swallowed her last bite of salad and wiped her mouth with a napkin. "Okay." Said Emily, pushing her salad plate away.

Janette smiled, glad that the girl was obliging her. She flipped her notepad to a page toward the back. "So, I went over the file that they have of you--they have files on all the patients here---but there wasn't very much on your history. Care to enlighten me there?" She asked.

Emily knew this was coming. She sat wringing her hands in her lap and stared at a stain on the table instead of meeting Nurse Janette's eyes.

"My parents and I were in a car crash when I was 14. A logging truck lost control in the rain and hit us head on. I was in the backseat listening to music on my new ipod so I wouldn't have to listen to my parents arguing. They fought a lot. They tried to keep it quiet most of the time but I heard them at night. My Mom always said it was my Dad's fault for making her choose. They always pretended everything was okay when I was around."

Emily took a sip of juice and continued on about the accident. "When the truck hit us, my Dad was driving. He was a good driver, always went the speed limit. The truck came around a curve going too fast and skidded on the wet road. I remember my Mom screaming, the tires squealing, and the bright headlights coming at us. I must have passed out, because it was so dark when I woke up and it smelled like wet pine needles. I hurt all over and the seat belt was so tight on my shoulder because the car was upside down. I called out to my mom and dad, but they didn't answer me. All I heard was the rain. I tried to take my seat belt off but my arm hurt so badly I couldn't do it. I must have passed back out, because when I woke up I heard sirens and people yelling. The rescue people got me out of the car and took me to the hospital. My right arm was broken along with my right leg and a few ribs. The nurses said I was lucky to be alive."

"I kept asking about my parents, but they didn't tell me anything until two days later when a social worker came in. She told me they had both died in the accident and how sorry she was. She asked if I had other family and I told her I didn't. My parents were the only child their parents had, and their parents died a few years ago. It was deemed best for me to be placed in foster care after I was released from the hospital. My foster parents were ok. They didn't have any children of their own, they had a nice home. I was happy there but they didn't like me, because after I got there I started talking to myself and strange things were happening. They were scared of me and sent me here until another foster family could take me." Emily finished.

( :hit )

Janette dabbed at her eyes with a handkerchief. She tucked it back in her pocket, took a sip of water, then looked Emily in the eye. "My dear, I'm so very sorry to hear that," she said honestly. "My parents both died in a tragic accident as well."
After a moment of quiet, she asked, "Would you care to tell me about the strange things?"

Though, it's funny, because the only reason Thomas's parents are dead is because he killed them. HE'S UNGRATEFUL. XD)
