I just picked up a 50lb bag of Home Grown Layer feed made by country acres feed company Brentwood MO. I have always used Purina Layena crumbles. The Home Grown was about $3 cheaper. Any one here like or dislike this feed?

No experience with it. However i did hear that if you change feed types it can mess with your chickens not sure if its true or not.

I used to use it. It is the economy version made by purina. I quit using it. Inconsistant product, some very dusty, so ok. Bare bones feed Chickens ate a lot and pooped a lot.

I found it this year. I feed the eighteen percent layer to both my layer hens and to my Birmingham Roller breeders. I feed the medicated chick starter to my new hatch chicks. The nice thing about this is the smaller pelletized size versus the wasteful mash powder. My chickens and my pigeons love it. My young rollers go to the settling pen looking great. My chicks are full of energy and my hens are laying like they are suppose to. I can get a bit cheaper product at another outlet here, but given the cost of everything in the balance, I like this product better than anything I have used, including other pellets designed for my pigeons. It is also much cheaper than feeding straight grain and has a much better mineral and vitamin balance of all of the necessary ingredients. Feeding some grain in the evenings keeps the droppings fairly solid. But even without the extra grains, the birds don't get the nasty droppings that I have had with other pellets and mashes.
