I have seen a bunch of threads saying they make their own feed for their chckens but they never say where they get their ingredients for it!

I buy all my ingredients at the feed store except for split peas, unsalted peanuts, and flax seeds (when I'm giving them). Those ingredients I buy in the bulk bin section of the grocery store...they will sell you the whole bag if you ask.

My kelp meal (not in my signature) even comes from the feed store. Try to get animal-grade as the price is soooo much lower!

It's interesting to see regional variations is what's at the feed store and what isn't.

I get wheat, oats, corn, field peas and flax at the local feed store(s). Had to find kelp online, Fertrell Nutri-Balancer from Fedco, and the fish meal comes from Countryside Naturals.
