home made scented play dough recipes

this makes great playdough and the scent is great.
1 cup sifted flour
1/2 cup salt
3 tablespoon oil
1 pkt of kool aid unsweetened powder
1 cup boiling water
mix dry ingredients together then add oil and boiling water . mix quickly with a spoon.. when cool enough to handle knead till fully mixed. store in air tight container and make sure your kids don't eat this .. yucky

chocolate scented play dough
1 1/4 cup flour
1/2 cup cocoa powder
1/2 cup salt
1/2 tablespoon cream of tartar
1 1/2 tablespoons oil
1 cup boiling water
mix dry ingredients together then add oil and boiling water. mix quickly with a spoon. when cool enough to handle knead till mixed. store in air tight container.

Would the KoolAid dye the surface being worked on????? I remember KoolAid drinks spilt on surfaces and they would leave a stain on the counter.
 
Yeah... I would think the cocoa and the kool-aid are not hard fast dyes? Wouldn't they miss color any surface they would be on?
 
i haven't had any trouble with the dye coming off on things once it has been kneaded and cooled. kids play with it on a light oak kitchen table and no problems.. when it is warm after just mixing it will stain your hands until cool and set

I love crafty home made stuff - especially if it's stuff I can do with my 4 year old!
