Homemade Bator

Hi I was wondering if anyone has had success with a homemade bator. It doesnt have to be fancy as we just want to try it. So doesnt need to be long lasting. Just safe for the eggs.

For the people who have done it heres a few questions

1. What was your hatching rate (and what breed/s were in there)
2. What did you use
3. Would you recommend it (as far as homemade bators go)

I am hatching my first egg in the homemade bator i used.
I am not sure if I will have success, since this is the first time using it. The egg has been successful so far(today is day 20) and it has grown. Yes, my temps. are very steady and so is humidity. Right now it's 100 degrees F. and hum. is 65% steady. yes, I would recommend it to people because it doesn't cost as much to build one than it does to buy one. buying one can be quite expensive!
The materials I used are:
a cardboard box
a plastic box
tin foil
plastic wrap
chicken fence wire
a lamp
hum./temp. gauges
and a bowl of water/paper towel

There are better ways to make it(mine isn't very long-lasting) but since you want to make one for a one-time thing, this one is really good for it.

The breed of egg that I have in the bator now is Red Star/Rhode Island Red mix.


MissPrissy's bator is a great way to build on! (it's likethe same as mine but instead of using a cardboard box and plastic box, she used a Styrofoam cooler.
