Homemade brooder

The interior sides are plastic to make in easier to clean and the floor is 1x2 wire with a plastic mesh on top of it.

I like it except the chicks wouldn't be able to scratch.

If they can't scratch, wouldn't they get bored and peck each other?

They seem quite content in the brooder and the commercial brooders make no allowance for the chicks to scratch.
