I just got a homemade cabinet bator made, but it has no ventilation holes. I plan on incubating my goose eggs in it, and hand turning them so would they get enough air exchange from me opening the cabinet door 3 times a day? Should I bust the drill out and make myself a few holes, and if so what size would be adequate? The incubator is about 17" X 17" X 22".

Anybody???

I would not trust just opening the door.

My sportsman clone has one hole high an one low on the back. Both are the size of a quarter. Yours is not that big so it probably dont need quite as big of vents.

I drilled myself a couple of 3/8" holes in the back (one on top, and one on bottom) so I will see how that works out. I also ordered a Brinsea liquid thermometer to go in it, and the little plugs from the tube it was packaged in fit perfectly into the vent holes. It couldn't have worked out better!

hi all, i know its a little of thread , but why would a dimmer switch set at corrctly fluctuate according to room temp assuming the incy is well insulated? ive a home made ex fridge covered with 3/8 ply with bubble wrat sandwiched in between. a big improvement on the 30 mm foam /plastic fridge liner.

incidently to the OP , ive one inch hole at the rear top i use as a air vent plus it acts a stop to up the humidity but imho i think i could use another lower down , and adjust dimmer accordingly ?

I just finished mine today and put 1½ holes 1 just behind the fan up hi and 1 3 inches from the bottom .
I had sme 1/8 aluminum and cut squares with one corner bent up and a screw hole in the
opposite corner and screwed it over the the holes so I can open or close them .
Have 53 eggs in there tonight
