I’m interested in comparing homemade chicken feed vs store bought and whether or not one is better than the other in terms of cost? Thank you!

Making a complete diet at home will be more expensive every time! Buying ingredients in small quantities, compared to the semi- loads purchased by feed mills, storing ingredients, getting the vitamin/ mineral mix and having it fresh, all will cost more. Growing some ingredients at home isn't free either!
There are recipes out there, some good, and some not, and it's tricky to do it right.
Enjoy the convenience of fresh feed at the feed store, by the bag!

Thank you for the info! May I please ask what layer feed you use? Thank you!

I don't feed layer, rather an all flock feed. Here Purina's Flock Raiser is available fresh at the local TSC (always check the mill date on each bag!) and it works well for my flock. They have oyster shell in a separate feeder. The cockerels, molting birds, youngsters, all can eat it, and aren't getting the lower protein and excess calcium in the layer feed.
