Greetings my chicken enthusiasts! Today I would like to teach you how to make a very simple and fun toy for your chickens. You can go to the paragraph that you want. Each paragraph will tell you about a different thing.
-Thank You
-Paragraph 1 is the introduction
-Paragraph 2 is the instruction + supplies
-Paragraph 3 is my opinion/review
-Paragraph 4 is a few tips and tricks
So to start off the supplies you need are very easy obtained. You will need...
1 medium to large sized log (Mine is about 4 feet long)
3 small to medium sized sticks (Mine are about 1 to 2 feet long)
6 - 9 small to medium construction screws
A drill
So to start off you will need to collect the log and the sticks. You then will need to get the screws and the drill. First, you should line up and try to plan where you are going to put this toy in your coop. Then you need to lay down the log and map out where you are going to put the three sticks. Then you can start working. Then set up your toy and watch your chickens play! This takes approximately 5 - 10 minutes.
So my opinion is that this is something that the chickens enjoy doing. It gives them something to do other than ravage through the grass. I also think this helps them stay active and entertained when I am at school. Conclusion: I highly recommend making this toy. It is extremely cheap and is relatively durable.
So make sure that the wood isn't too dry or fragile so the wood doesn't split when you drill the screws in. Make sure the wood isn't wobbly or the chickens won't stand on it (I learned that from experience). Also, make sure the wood is thick enough to hold the weight of a few chickens.
