Homemade Cow Butter?

Yes, you can use your hand mixer you'll know when it separates and you have butter doesn't take long.If you want spreadable butter 1/4 c. canola oil 1 stick real butter whip together and you have spreadable butter.

Prairiehen-I just saw your answer to my question about using my hand mixer to make butter--thanks but I am wondering how long in minutes--less than 10 min or 15 minutes or longer? And about adding canola oil, would I add that after I get my butter made and washed?

It's been years since I've had the good old raw jersey milk to skim the heavy top cream off to make real butter after the butter seperates from the whey rinse the butter in ice water get your hands in it and squeeze the water out of it mold it how ever you like. You will not burn up your mixer butter is what happens when you whip your cream for whipped cream too long. Yes, you can whip the canola oil in after you get all the water out of the butter, add a little salt to taste. Thats only if you want to streach your butter and have it be easy to spread right out of the icebox.
