Hi, we don't normally use any kind of feed for our chicken. Now that I got interested in these things and the first thing I wanted to know was what to feed them. I bought some feed from a person who sells chickens(broiler). I have a few Indian native breeds(mixed), a few Kadaknath chickens, and a few chicks, so I searched and got to know that broiler and layers need different feeds. I watched a video where a YouTuber explained what and how much feed the chickens need and gave some proportions to mix them up. The proportions were like this:
Soybean Meal 1/6 sack = 3.77993333333 kg, Wheat(white/red) ½ sack = 11.3398 kg, Oats ½ sack = 11.3398 kg, Corn ½ sack = 11.3398 kg

I have a few questions related to the mix. Can the chicken eat whole grains? Do I need to use Oat groats or processed oats? I read somewhere that Oats are too much fibre and the chickens don't need that much.
I'll be posting some pics of our chicken to get the idea.

chickens can eat whole grains as long they have grit.
You can use either oats far as I have read.

There is many different rations which could be fed to chickens, The ration needs to be a complete balanced ration or should be.

There is no mineral in that ration and looks low on protein Trying to emulate or make your own feed will usually cost you as much as buying the feed or more.

There is 3kg soybean meal to 33kg the other ingredients. Soybean meal is high in protein the other ingredients not so.

I mix soybean quarters about 2 to 1 with corn , about 18 to 20 percent protein

I feed corn, roasted soybean quarters, oats, small percentage black sunflower seed, and store bought feed together mixed. Side dish calcium product, also I have limestone here on property chickens scratch on. I free range also. Winter I give them some vitamin supplements because I know the ration I give them is not a complete ration. In fall I clean up neighbor property where they dry and load corn. SO I get a get a fair amount of corn free. Then in spring I buy corn from them. Otherwise mixing my own feed would not be worth it. Be cheaper to buy it.

Making your own ration is a science, research and math.
GoodLuck

Doesn't soy meal has like 40 - 50% of protein?
It's hard finding a balanced feed for my layers. I find some but I can't find a nutrition chart of that feed. So, I'm steering clear of those.
I'll keep searching and see what fits best for my situation. I hope I can find a store feed that's good for my chickens.

roasted soy bean quarters i use are 42 percent protein
5 percent fat
8 crude fiber
soybean also has other vitamins and nutrient, amino acids.

Soymeal I have had is 46 percent protein.

You need the analysis of your feeds or grains, combine the ingredients to make a ration.
Big companies use a nutritionist to make the feed for chickens, pigs, dogs, cats or whatever.
Good Luck

@Kiki made an awesome feed chart that works wonders for comparing feeds. I believe you can find this information in her signature.
@EggSighted4Life is another member here that has lots of knowledge in nutrition.
I wish you the best with feeding your flock
