Just pulled it out of the oven, and the whole house smells so good.

It seems pretty hard, but I'm going to let it cool in the pan. So I won't know how hard it sets up until I take it out. But even if it's hard as cement, the apples will give the chooks places to peck into easily

HOw did it come out? Did it burn in the oven?

I'll have to try this. Maybe make it this weekend or something.

Well I don't think I cooked it long enough. When I took it out of the pan this morning it broke in half and the middle is way too soft.

I cooked this one at 300 degrees for 1.5 hours. Next time I'll either make it thinner or cook it for at least 2.5 hours.

I'm sure they'll still love it though

I have a bag of old pine nuts. Will those be alright for chickens? I'd like to add them to one of these recipes for chicken treats.

Thanks

I tried making my own last year. It never got hard enough, but the birds loved it anyway. I don't know how to make it hard except maybe using a dehydrater? I don't know.

Mine always gets real hard... I microwave it though...
I just keep hitting 5 min times until its rock hard...
I dont use egg or anything like that though...just wet bread as the binder...
