Homemade flock block

Sounds good!! I think my silkies will enjoy i will make it then post pics of them on here later!! Thanks for the recipe.

I realize this is an older thread. I tried to make a flock block for my birds. I'm on a second one. I'm letting the first one sit over night and hopefully it will harden more as it sets. I have another one in the oven and altered my recipe some. Now to wait and see how this one turns out. I hope it gets harder. Wanted to give the birds a Christmas treat. After awhile the flock blocks at TSC get a bit costly for the amount of birds I have. I hope this one turns out better, harder. I'll keep trying until I get it right.

How did yours turn out?

I'd like to make blocks that are very solid and a little challenging (but not impossible) for my girls.

They turned out good but they have to be in the oven at low temperature for several hours.
First I mixed everything in a bucket then put it in pans and into the oven for several hours at around 225ºF.

Thanks for the info and pics!

I can't tell, but how "solid" / "hard" is that cake? Are the chickens able to break it apart easily? I'd really like to require that they put in a bit of effort & time to break pieces off.

The first ones I made weren't quite as hard and did crumble a bit. I left the last ones in the oven longer, actually overnight.
