PRIMARILLY SEEDS AND VEGATATION (EXCEPT MEARNES--- THEY ARE BUG EATERS) AND WILL TAKE A NICE JUICY BUG IF THE OPPORTUNITY PRESENTS ITSELF---- BUT FEEDING MEALIES OR WIGGLERS TO CHICKS IS A RECIPE FOR DISASTER--- ESPECIALLY IN ALMOST ANY SPECES OTHER THAN COTURNIX--- MOST SPECES OF QUAIL ARE VICIOUS LIL BUGGERS TOWARD EACH OTHER, AND TO A YOUNG QUAIL LIVE WORMS LOOK A WHOLE LOT LIKE THE TOES ON YOUR BROODER MATE--- THUS IT PLANTS BAD IDEAS IN YOUNG AND IMPRESSIONABLE MINDS WHICH GROW TO FRUITION AND COME HOME TO BITE YOU ( OR AT LEAST 1 OF YOUR OTHER QUAIL...)

I feed my 4 Button Quails/King Quails - per day, Poultry pellets 1/2 cup. Canary seed mix 1/2 cup, 1 scrambled whole hard boiled egg (shell and all), a large handful of mixed dark greens and meal worms or garden worms every three days. They have shell grit box and I give them sprouted seeds and egg and biscuit on occasions.
If you buy bulk its cheeper. I keep all my seed and pellets in air tight tubs. I worked it out that with the greens and meal worms it cost me about $3 to $4 a week, which isn't much.

Purina Mills 30% game bird starter. You've never seen a covey at the feed store trying to wrestle a 50# bag of it into the back of their Prius?
It's ADORABLE!

ROFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!

Does anyone out there make their own feed? If so can they share concoctions? I would like to make my own feed to save money. I have a feed mill close by but they don't carry any game bird feed. So looking for feed that I could possibly feed the Quail and some turkeys.

Thanks
Has anyone answered your question yet with a recipe? I make my own feed for my chickens, guineas and ducks. I’m putting scrambled eggs in that mix for my gamebirds and chicks.
