Homemade incubator question

THANKS to the poster(s) who suggested the pet stores with coral and fish. I stopped at a non-chain pet shop today that specializes in salt water tanks - and lo and behold...........they had a TON of really cool styrofoam containers. She let me take all I wanted....so now I have plenty to mess around with.

I can always count on you guys!!!!

we got our incubator at the pet store for free. Have about $10 in it and have hatched about 3 dozen chicks
and half a dozen ducks. It is up and running now with a dozen assorted chicken eggs due to hatch on Valentines
Day. We had great fun building it ourselves.

Wow! A local person... I'm in White Bluff. I have 22 cochin banties and 11 easter egger mutts due to go on lockdown Superbowl Sunday. My incubator is home made. I made one last year that would only hold around 18 standard eggs. I had a test hatch of 5 with 4 hatching. My next hatch was 14 and 8 hatched but those were shipped in 100+ degree heat.
This year I took my old one apart and rebuilt it into one of those big white styro coolers from wal-mart. I love it now! My temp never varies and I can set 3-4 dozen at a time.
I have a hatching buddy thread here

Also I have streaming video of my incubator so I can check on it while I'm gone to work.

What all types of chickens do you guys have? Maybe we can swap some sooner or later.
Sam
