Homemade solar box

I've been looking into a solar box you can make w\\soda cans painted black enclosed in box covered with class. Keep in mind i'm a chick but i got most of the concept except how to fashion the cans, Leave bottoms on or cut holes, close together or spaced.I plan on venting in to the coop and i got that. Should i fill with sand a few at least. Thanks

Cut the can length wise in half, don't cut through the back, across the top down the side across the bottom then open them up and paint the insides dull black. Place them. folded open, black side facing glass.You tack the back of each can in place. You want the butterflied cans close together. Paint inside of the box black, have at least 3 inches of space between the top of the cans and the glass. I heated my garden shed with a 2 ft by 4 ft box. Took air from the shop low on one end, heated it and took the heated air from high on the other end and exhausted it into the shop. Worked well until it snowed.
