Looks to me like a basic white homing pigeon. That is what I keep (although have zero right now).
You must understand that homing pigeons and racing pigeons are not one and the same.
Homing pigeons will return to their original loft.
Racing pigeons will also return to their original loft, but will do it in much faster time.
Feral pigeons are in the homing category that will keep returning to their bridge underpass, but such pigeons are not necessarily very fast, since they are mutts mixed with all types of other pigeons.
Here is a pix of those I had.

Thanks that’s what I thought it was but wanted a second opinion. Second question is do they all have that pearlish patch of feathers under their eye? you can kinda see it in the third picture.

Yes a white homing pigeon... very nice. I knew a guy that had a bunch of them. Another guy that rented his out for weddings etc... he had a nice basket made ups.

That pearlish patch. Look closely and you will see it is a different type of feather. I believe related to hearing. The ear is there very close.

Homing pigeons have varying homing instincts. The white ones are easier to rehome. Each bird is different. If it likes it's coop. They are social animals. A hen maybe? She is nice.

Yes she is a hen and that is her mate in the first pic thanks for the info about the feather .

I am wanting to get into homer pigeons. I have a 10x10 dog cage connect to a 10x5 wooden garage/storage are would this work? What would I need? Where should I set the trap and doors at? How many should I start with?
What you describe will work great for a loft and flight pen. I bought my bob trap from Foy's.com but you could make your own. There are different styles. You will want to have a settling cage outside of the trap so you can train them to come in before you let them fly free.:D

This shows the trap and settling cage on top of the aviary. (before there were any birds)

i was planning on making a trap and a door to let them into the 10x10 dog cage and work with them on trapping so they get used to it
