I am moving to Spokane, WA and will be in Spokane for about a year for work (west side of town).

My 7 hens mean the world to me, and am worried that I cannot take them with me.

Does anyone know of any potential homes for rent that will allow me to bring them?

I own an Omlet Cube as well as an Omlet Walk-in Run, so it's aesthetically pleasing to the eye.

I am also meticulous at cleaning the coop and I clean it weekly.

Hoping to hear some promising news from this forum.

I'm including a photo of my babies for sympathy :)

I live in Spokane, and anything is quite possible, but my mom had a tough time moving here from Seattle trying to find places that she could keep her Welsh Corgi. What part of Spokane are you moving to?

I'm not sure what area I will be moving to yet. I just started my research.
Fingers-crossed I can find a house for rent that will allow chickens, otherwise I'll probably look for an apartment there :/

When looking for a place to rent, you might want to avoid planned communities (HOA's). A lot of HOA's don't specifically allow for chickens. The process to get permission from an HOA board could take a long time. The landlord would know if the townhouse or the single family house is in an HOA. They may not know if chickens are allowed.

Make sure your lease doesn't specifically forbid ANY pets or livestock. If it doesn't forbid, the chickens could come later, after you move in. I can't see a landlord requiring an extra deposit for chickens. Dogs, yes. Cats, yes. Chickens, no.

I don't think the average landlord (in a "city" area) will have already thought about how to handle the chicken request.

Good luck finding a place!

I can. Chickens can tear up a yard, might need repairing....
...and who's to say if they might not end up in the house.

If they do allow chickens, they would probably(hopefully) be well versed in what it entails and have specific restrictions on housing, confinement, etc.

I would not allow chickens in my rentals, sorry not all flock owners are the same and some renters just think they own the place. Thats why i moved to the vacation rental model, if I do not like the renter they are leaving Sunday.... I may build a coop at my vacation rental, eggs included with every stay....
