Homeschoolers, a question for ya

Quote:
Yes! This fall will be our 8th year homeschooling! WOW! Time sure goes by fast. Actually, we have always homeschooled, my kids don't know anything different. When they were younger they said "We homeschool and other kids outschool". We are just west of you in Douglas Cty. So, we really are neighbors! LOL How many are you currently homeschooling?

***sorry just read your signature line.....duh!!!!

Wow - so close! Incredible! I have a boy who will be 11 this August and is going into 6th and my daughter just graduated last December. She's moving to LA next winter for school.

I wish I had 10 more kids - they grow up way too fast. This will be our 7th year of homeschool - time does fly. Hey if you ever want to do some homeschool stuff together just send me a message!

I've been considering homeschooling...

there is a SEA of information out there. It is kind of overwhelming...not sure this is a good fit for our family.

We sign up for www.time4learning.com for summer school at home. My girls love it and with all the trips to the library it is going to be a great summer.

We LOVE Olivia's book review contest SO much here on BYC and voting....that we started a similar one and it will air weekly on our local television station without the voting. They are a small station and will basically PUT up anything...within reason. MY DH is so excited to get started making minisodes on my dd's book reviews. Our local librarian is going to help!

OH...HenMamma...the best activity for the children...is to teach them to incubate and hatch the chicks out...or get a broody and start. My kids really loved it and LEARNED a TON...only takes 21 days...and you can have a calendar set up. What ever eggs do not hatch you can break away the shell and show development stages and compare to charts...my kids really thought that was cool. They could NOT believe that chickens and human babies grow at the same rate till the last trimester...then they all grow at different rates.

I'd hook up with a local 4H that has a chicken chapter...they probably have a TON of information/curriculumn.

Good luck...

cheeptrick- that's a GREAT idea about the book reviews!!! and without the voting, I highly agree!
if you make them digitally, I'd like to see some!

Thanks--- sadly she's about to be beaten by the kid with the super-fanatic school district. His votes are coming fast and furious. If its anything like last night, he'll get about 1500 before they shut the multiple-vote-allowing thing at 5:45 EST.....they've got the computer labs open after school and the unsupervised kids just banging away the votes, is my guess...

I don't know if even all the BYC-er are going to be able to overcome it!
