Homesteaders

My EE's are crosses of Ameraucauna and EE's and Maran and Auruacana . I just keep them for the colored eggs. I'm not fussy. Now if I get a legbar hen or two I'll add them to the mix.

Looks pretty simple. What is it for? Kinda looks like a "sprout" thing? Not sure were you'd get those bins though. They look like plastic strainers. Did you check out "workdaychickens.com"?

THere are about a million youtube videos about how people make these. go search on there. if that doesnt give you enough ideas, there are an additional million bloggers out there who have shared their version.

do a search in the "Feeding" section of byc. There was a good discussion of a couple of methods people were using.

ANd yes, fodder is sorta growing sprouts for your livestock to supplement their feed. MOst grow it to the point of first leaves, so alittle more than your typical sprouts. There are some people doing it for winter greens for their chickens.

Yep, growing fodder... It's great for areas that get blasted into winter with no greens in sight. ;)

I use grow trays under grow lights ( stating the obvious lol), and they sprout really fast, depending on what you're growing, and there's more nutrient value to it... It's almost like fermenting, I suppose, for lack of better term from a tired brain ;)
