Homesteaders

I understand what you mean about the dreamers after reading many of the more recent posts, or the ones that respond to everything just to build their post count. Perhaps we could work to build it back up. (?)

Sorry to offend anyone, as we have no property to homestead yet. Just here to learn and share What I already have implemented. One can begin homesteading in an apartment and a balcony. I am allowed to do everything except have animals in my community. We can't wait to get out of here!

I've tried at various times but always get converged upon by the element. It gets old. Maybe a guy would have more luck as there are few guys there and they don't seem to be as much as a red flag to the ladies, though some really good ones have left the site due to them as well. It was once a really nice little community, a good place to talk about projects one is doing and to bounce information off one another.

Nothing wrong in dreaming about homesteading...the dream has to come first. I am constantly dreaming of homesteading myself, as I love the life. It's just hard to talk with folks who constantly want to argue or pick a fight over something of which they have no experience.

Well, I am going to give it a try over at SufficientSelf.com. I know you will support me.

I agree; in my "travels" on the internet, there seems to be more people who dream it rather than do it. Perhaps there is a an "attraction", but so many cannot give up their modern conveniences. Perhaps becoming "experts" is a defense over really doing it. Who knows? LOL

Sure will, if I can. I don't visit over there much....the majority of my posts there were from the first few years of the forum. Occasionally I pop in...Sumi is really nice and one of the mods there now, so you can count on her for support and good feedback and help.

You could be right....there really does seem to be a real defensive attitude to it, which baffles me. If one is wanting to learn about a lifestyle, being hostile towards folks who have lived it or are currently living it seems to be the wrong way to go about it. We've lost so many good people on that forum due to that kind of behavior and most of the people who left were actually doing things, not dreaming about them, and had much to teach and many good ideas to exchange. It used to be a real fun place!
