They need some work but the frame is good on both. I am getting excited i have chicks coming on the 15th, red ranger and rainbow dixie. I am really doing this :D

I save every deer liver for the dogs and most of the chicken livers get fed back to the chickens waiting around my butchering station for a tidbit.  Good source of iron for them all.  I can't imagine wasting such a thing by throwing it away...same with the other organs such as heart, kidneys, testes.  All good protein, good nutrition for animal and man.
We haven't processed any yet but I figure when we do the mess will go to the dogs. What's the best way to get rid of all the feathers?

:D   I've not gotten up the nerve to eat those either...those go to chickens and dogs also.  Found a testicle in one of those roasted chickens from Sam's Club the other day at my in-laws house.  I wonder if folks who eat restaurant and store prepared chickens know that the kidneys are always left intact and sometimes the testicles and spermatic cords are left behind in there as well.  LOVE the kidneys!!!  :drool
That's something I didn't know. Kinda gross after all the rotisserie chickens I have eaten.

I grew up with my grandparents and they ate beef liver 2 times a week. The smell made me so sick I spent those days with friends. As for chicken liver, I guess I could feed it to the dogs. Do I just boil it and feed it to them or do I feed it to them raw?

I fed it all raw. Your dogs shoild be more then able to handle it (mine prefers to bury their kills and let them rot a bit before eating :/

I would eat bugs before I would eat liver.

Depends on the way it's cooked, even the smell is different depending on cooking

Oh.. I forgot banana slugs.. some like em (see California banana slug cooking contest).. I don't... might be a texture thingy.. kinda like brussel sprouts and cooked cabbage... too slimy.

Lightly steamed cabbage not slimy at all just a bit crunchy and delicious, Add a touch of grated carrots and the sight is even more appetizing. Brussel sprouts I don't even know how to cook them.

that's funny liver is very good with onions
True!!

Acctually it is a favored food here, and everyone knows exactly what they are.

It is just about how you are raised and what normal is to you.
How one is raised plays a big role

I don't have to sneak good stuff into the kids food. They love fresh produce. The only thing they are picky about is fish, no salmon only white meat fish. If I don't tell them what it is they won't eat it, if I tell them they at least try it.
