Well dad has agreed to help me build another rabbit hutch(or 2 shh) they will be matching to go with the grow out pen i will be building. They will each house one rabbit with babies, then the babies will move to the grow out pen and finish on the grass. I will only own friendly rabbits so it should be fun to see what kinds i get. A friend is downsizing her herd and offered me a breeding trio, so i am excited.

On a sad note, i buried my foster siamese today. He passed away with fading kitten syndrome, it was very sudden and there was nothing we could do. He is in a better place now and playing with those that went before him.

I drove a little over 800mls to Michigan, from Oklahoma with a watermelon I grew and have invited everybody to grill during the week or play horseshoes on the weekend and eat my watermelon. Someone in the campground had a birthday party. I got home late noticed everybody at my neighbors cut my watermelon in half brought it over cut a few slices ate 1 and left a knife with the melon. The cool weather has made it much better to work outside of late. Today I painted a screen door for the yard. Yesterday I worked on a new shelter for the chickens in the yard. It's bigger than the old one and I hope provide bare ground during the winter. I'm using branches that have fallen or been cut. Not sure what I'll put on top. I expect I'll be brushing snow off though. It's much sturdier than it looks.



Poor Big Delores has lost more feathers than usual. She's the only one in the coop that is molting. She's taken to sleeping on the floor. Perhaps she's having a hard time getting up on the roost?

Tomatoes from the garden. I've done others but can always use more tomatoes. DW makes lots of sauce when the kids come on the week end.



Our neighbor came over with these tomatoes. We'd never met her, but I gave her a dozen eggs in trade. She's a very nice lady from Jamaica.




I had some leftover spray paint and one of those "office paper" boxes and the need for where to store canning jar lids and rings. So I made this.




DD brought over a cake roll for desert but I saved the top for a "cloche" come spring.

I am the queen of a small ant colony. Every living critter I feed has a job on the farm. Kids collect eggs and pick the garden, dogs keep predators at bay, husband fixes what I tell him, chickens feed us and eat the bugs. No grasshoppers here.

Mostly I see little black crickets in the front yard. I wish my chickens would get the moles that are digging about. I'm tempted to get a cat, but it can be a dangerous thing for cats around here.

I apologize for asking about ants and grasshoppers as most folks are here because they're not grasshoppers.
