Lol!

I think I would rather deal with a sickness for eight weeks or so than deal with eight kids at once! Eeekkkk that sounds like torture!

I guess if you just lock them all in one room, you could sound proof it and send meals in................

My father grew up on a farm in Virginia in the 1920's - 30's. There were 8 kids in the family. He said when one got sick with the flu, chicken pox, measles, etc., my grandmother would put them all in the same room so she only had to deal with it once!

I recall a time we were all in the livingroom sleeping on the floor for lack of beds. My Aunt and Uncle and there's were staying with us too. I could be wrong as my memory is not what it used to be.

However my mother did use this stuff called Mustarole/Musterol. It was a mustard type cream. Worked but we cried cuz it was hot. I really think the vapor of it helped clear our sinuses and lungs. It's long gone off the market I think.

I got my flu shot, so hopefully I'll be immune,
but I guess I know what to expect at work
tonight! lol Sue

Not a fan of flu shots. My husband got them
every year when he was in the military and
he and all of the other guys that got it
ALWAYS got deathly Sick EVERY time! So, no flu shots here! This is the first time in
many years that we have all gotten it and it
seems to be wrapping up! I just had a friend
who got the flu shot and pneumonia shot at
the same time! Needless to say , she got
very sick and ended up with bronchitis too!
Also had to go back to the doctor's for
antibiotics!
If it's not one thing... It's another!

Major score last night! Had to take some hunting gear to my husband and his friends at the deer camp they have last night and it's way out in the middle of nowhere. when The kids and I were walking down the path we keep sliding on what I first thought was hickory nuts (it was dark). But they were Pecans! After I grabbed a basket out of the back of the truck and started picking them up my hubby and and his drunk buddies (this is deer camp people) were like What in the world are you doing?! They think I'm crazy. Lol they starting helping so this is what we picked up in about five mins....

400

It was getting cold and my basket was full but now that they know what they look like each has promised to keep an eye out and pack a plastic bag while they are out wondering around in the woods to hopefully fill with more pecans for me!

I hear ya! I'm not a fan either, but if I don't get it at work I have to wear a stupid (& useless) facemask - which I hate! Fortunately I haven't got sick from it- Sue

Well now all this talk of the flu. I haven't gotten my shot yet, but I do have a sore throat from nasal drip I think. Since I've been getting the flu shot I don't get sick as much. I'm real susceptible to colds and stuff like that. Missed a whole month from work one year.

One of the things about that musterol stuff was the fumes went right up you nose and you'd be coughing and gagging. Not everything from the old ways was so good. Put to much and you'd get a nice burn.

There were eight kids in our family. My mother had to deal with them by herself since my father took a hike. We survived. My Aunt and Uncle I think were between living places. We lived in a farm house so it wasn't too bad. I was little so there's a lot I can't remember.

Moon - we did sweat for sure. One thing that I think might have helped keep us healthy would've been to bath more often. Once a week is not a good. As kids we weren't taught any better. When I left home things changed. I don't know why my mother thought that was sufficient.

We were poor but I think she grew up even poorer. She said she was born on the Erie canal and they had to break the ice to get water to bath her. I've some newspaper clippings and from what I read I believe her. She's passed away long ago so I can't ask her.
