Homesteaders

Your neighbor would love them when he found he had no more ticks in his yard.

By the way, I have been told hat they help control snakes. Is that true?

Chickens eat everything a guinea fowl will eat. My chickens eat ticks and snakes like crazy but do it without that annoying, high pitched screeching all the time.

No need to get guineas to have tick and snake control at your place.

BUt Chickens love the veggies where the Guineas just pass on them.

Snakes in this part of Minnesota do not happen, unless it is a gopher snake or bull snake both of which I welcome here.

My neighbor has been "spilling" sunflower seeds at her bird feeder - just for my guinea hens to come over and eat. They really enjoy having the birds come over and visit. Personally, I would rather not have them cross the road, but they sure like sunflower seeds and all the bugs in the farm-field. There is a stop sign at the corner, so at least the traffic is not going by that fast that vehicles won't stop for a couple of birds.
I have gotten used to the guinea noise. Eventually, you learn to ignore most of it and only react to the alarm calls.

When I get a chance, I will post my garden plan.

I got the listing from the county this week - also planning on ordering some trees/shrubs for this farm property. We would like to get a habitat area planted to attract some deer - I would like some venison.

We are going to rebuild our windbreaks but also with trees that will offer benefits to wildlife. they also offer a pack deal of trees to plant for attracting and benefiting pollinators.

Don't plant Cedar :/ Our windbreaks were planted back in the 70s with cedar trees. They are wonderful and beneficial, but reproduce like weeds. We now spend a great amount of time and money getting rid of the volunteer cedar trees
