Homesteaders

These aren't the pics you're looking for. However, I just bought a new camera and needed to test it out before our trip to Alaska. Something I should have done before our trip to Israel long ago but that's another story. These include a "hint" for when danger of frost, or in this case snow is nigh. Notice the Plastic bag over the pot. The opaque bag will allow light in yet still protect the plants. It can be use even for early planting. Question: Why do chickens feel the need to peck the side of the house. We have painted shake shingles and they pecked all the paint off them. Too the chickens in the run pecked all at the side of the coop. Pecking all the purple paint. None of which is lead based so there is no sweet taste.
Maybe they like purple?

That is what I was wondering. Especially because the picture you have shows a very reddish purple.
Yes but the house is Beige and the Daisies pecked it. I doubt the purple is that red.

Looks like you got a nice camera that takes good, clear pictures. Are you going on a cruise to Alaska?
We haven't decided. We will be going camping but staying in a cabin. The military is putting us up for a weekend. We don't have a lot of money and the kids have three so not enough room in their car. We haven't planned to rent a car but we may have to for a weekend or inbetween. The son has time off. Alaska is very expensive.

Camping and staying in a cabin sounds like fun!!! Enjoy yourselves...

Staying in a cabin in Alaska sounds quite pleasant and I think the weather should be pretty nice this time of year. We visited in 2009 and on a coolish, rainy day went to the Elks Lodge? while we were looking around in town and had time to kill. There is an Elks Club? here that we were new members of, and they had us sign their register for visiting members; and one of the guys there took us out to see black bears in the surrounding trails. Showed us where they fished for salmon, etc. and we ate in a little cafe downtown. Had a pretty good day though we got rained on. Had to go to the park early in the am to see the moose ... don't know where they went later in the day. Saw the glaciers and really had a wonderful vacation .... though not extravagant money wise. I hope you do too and that you enjoy your trip with your DS, DIL, and GC. Hope you will post a picture of something when you get back.

I hope to have a couple of memory cards full.

Im allergic to my animals but my allergies finally got the memo the animals are here to stay. As far as seasonal allergies I just muscle my way through it, all the allergy meds make me sleepy. Dad is going to teach me how to cut hay with the swather when it gets up and running again. So I am excited about that. Got lab results back, turns out I have profound iron deficiency anemia to go along with my depression and anxiety. Yay me, but things are looking up again and the camper is set in its "holiday" location. Boys and I are going to go fishing more this summer and go down more trails to scope out hunting areas for the fall. Teach the bulldogge how to run with the fourwheeler instead of infront of it. Got her pulling light weights around the house in the laundry basket until the wagon is ready. My peas shot up 6 inches in 2 days, so that was a surprise today. Thats all that is going on in my little corner of the world.

Have they checked your Vitamin D levels? I know personally I become anemic, depressed and pretty near non-functional when my Vitamin D levels are too low. I now take 5000 iui daily to keep it {mostly} in check.

I hope to have a couple of memory cards full.

RIF = Reading is Fundamental :)

Far as I know they didn't check my vitamin D but they might have, the Dr. was concerned I had a thyroid problem. I will be going back in to the doctor in a couple of weeks, I will talk to them my vitamin D levels. Still debating on changing my meds, I am not too sure these are working the way I want them to.
