Sheep dairy....anyone ever contemplate raising milking sheep instead of cows or goats? My vote goes to the Katahdin...a wonderful milky breed of meat sheep that are docile and sweet to handle, naturally hardy and prone to twinning...and no shearing. For folks not wanting to deal with all the milk one can get from a milk cow or goat but still would love to have healthy milk for drinking and for making cheese and such, dairy sheep are a great option.

Do u milk sheep? I don't think I could milk a sheep...

I would like to be able to buy raw milk to make butter. I use the heavy cream from the grocery store. I found a website where you could buy fresh raw milk but don't know about ordering on line. There was a dairy here who used to sell raw milk but I think it is against the law now in Ala. I was raised on raw milk and it never hurt us. I loved to skim the cream off and pour it over ice. Delicious. Now I buy 2% because it is supposed to be healthier but really like whole milk best. I think it would be nice to have a cow. Just being around them makes me feel calm and relaxed. We always had one when I was growing up. My mama and grandmaw used to drive their cows way down the hilll to someone else's pasture. I would go with them sometimes. One time my grandmaw got the leading rope wrapped around her finger and it got pulled hard by the cow. My grandmaw would hold that finger up to show everyone how it was . She couldn't figure out why we laughed. It was her middle finger. Once when they were going down the road they were talking about an old grayhaired woman who walked bent over because of her back. They were discussing if she was a witch. Just at that moment the old lady stepped out of the woods onto the road. She just looked at them and said" I'm jest gathering up a little fire wood." Kind of scared my mama and grandmaw.

If the government did not stop us from drinking raw milk big Pharma would go out of business because of all the immunities and allergies are kids did not develop...... We can't have anything interfering with allergies in kids.
