Homesteading is hard... my poor turkey hen

Well glad I started it then! Is the turkey in a coop or is she living like near your house?

She lives in our coop, we got her from a turkey farm a while back, she was one of many wild hens. Just started her annual egg-laying cycle.

Update: I let momma out this morning to stretch her wings a bit and to let her drink some water but she didn't drink any water she just went straight back to the babies. She has nine babies left, one died for unknown causes, but the rest are looking great!

Yes, they do I just wanted to let her out for a bit, she just likes to sit, and drink from the big water bowl we have for them.

I just happened upon this thread and read it with my daughter. What a success story - Congratulations!!! I hope that your hen and poults are all doing well.

Thanks! They are doing very well we have 8 poults out of the original 14 eggs, 1 of the poults drowed in water and the other 1 got squished by the tom when he got in. I just put momma and babies back in with the other turkeys and now they are a big happy family. Also momma is back to laying eggs! Yay!

We also got the mice problem under control, for awhile there I was catching a few mice a night. My son is now feeding the cats closer to the barn so now they kinda live more in the barn the in the garage.
