Popped straight up, and was gone. Two days later I was working on the coop, and heard "chee-deep! chee-deep!" and there she was!! One of the dogs actually brought her down, but other than losing a couple of feathers, she was fine and was happy to be back with the others.

I'm so glad they stay close!! Whew!!! And glad you got Cricket back!

awhhh yep that's what he was doing when I heard him while I was potting myone dog I love that call!!! It almost reminds me of someone with a band whistle lol! My bird dog (cocker spaniel) may have brought Cricket to me, however I wasnt taking any chances of Merelin just scaring him and then losing him a second time. Cricket was my first one that ever tried to escape with full feathers. Tomorrow is wing inspection day again because of this escape escapade

lol I've had that happen, when my quail were smaller I built a lil structure with cardboard it had no bottom so they can eat grass, bugs and dust bathe, and no top, cause everything said they couldn't fly well, but last time I had taken them out they were 4 weeks old then I was bust all week so I didn't get to take them out again till they were 5 weeks old so they did their thing and I sat in a chair next to them, then my only golden flys away like 20ft I just laugh and go try to catch him. Then he flys all the way to my front yard in the brush so while he was flying I was running behind him with flip flops on. Well I never found him. But the next day he was hanging around under my deck but my cat never gave me a shot at catching him she chased him away then that evening it hailed pretty heavily and I never heard or saw of him again. I guess they just go back to familiar terrain where they know theirs food, water, and other birds just like them.
