Honey Bees and Hives

JP, I use telescoping covers with inner covers and they're no problem to take off. I'm not familiar with what Angie has there - Angie, is there an inner cover and then the outer cover?

Ann, an inner cover, I think may just resolve that issue. Those are plastic covers that wrap around the top edges and are a nightmare to remove when propolis is heavy.

OK, just spoke with my buddy who has used this type and he likes them but doesn't like using an inner cover, which you really must use with this type.

An attribute he mentioned that he liked is they are nice and heavy.

I have a wooden inner cover, then a ventilation box, then a top feeder, then the telescoping cover made of polypropylene instead of wood with a tin cover.

The bees cannot get past the vent box where the top feeder sits. So, no issue with my lids.
