So yesterday I thought I was hearing what could be a developing honk, but now I'm not so sure. Today her voice sounds raspy about 50% of the time, even pushing out like a loud raspy honk? She's still eating and drinking like crazy and has water bowls that are plenty deep, plus a clean brooder. It has been kind of chilly here (low 60s) and rainy, so I'm worried she caught something from when we went outside in a drizzle. Her food is Mazuri starter with oats to bring down protein and nutritional yeast mixed in (+ a sprinkle of kelp). She also has access to water + apple cider vinegar, and tons of fresh greens (kale + clover).

To add to it, I'm not 100% on the hatch date, I was told May 24th, but from her feather development, I'm wondering if she's at least 2 weeks older. Anyway, just a slightly worried goose mama, hoping it's just a honk and not something worse.

In the last two vids she's making the "whirr" sound that means she's tired, cold, and/or wants to snuggle. She doesn't sound wheezy to me, and as long as she wasn't wet for a long time and got to dry off and warm up afterwards, a little drizzle and cool weather shouldn't be able to harm her.

Hatch date May 24th seems right. Here's a video of my goose when she was 22 days old:

A week later she looked like this:

Love love love that video, could watch her run around all day! Thank you for posting the comparison it makes me feel a lot better about the hatch date being correct.

I'm going to put little heater out in the room to bring the temp back up a bit, she has her sister to snuggle with but I don't want them to feel stressed by the lowered temps we're having and neither of them fit under their brooder anymore 🙃

I thought that they were toulouse; My Norbert is 5 weeks old and i'm certain his voice started to break within the last 1-2 weeks, I have peeps mixed in with what sound like mini honks.

Yeah, all new to me too, i'm in the same boat...it seems more obvious in the mornings when he is waking up and then goes back to peeps for a while once he has composed himself that I've not abandoned him after leaving him for the night
