Hello all! I have two bantam chicks, appx 3.months old. I remember my old bantam going thru a sort of puberty sound, where I thought maybe she had a respiratory problem. But then turned out just to be, well, a chicken.

These two are both eating and acting normal, no excessive discharge from mouth, nose or eyes. The occasional sneeze or shake of the head that throws a little mucus from the beak.

But they are both super raspy and honky with their voice. Even their coo sounds Ike someone trying to talk with a sore throat.

Should I be treating for anything, or is this normal?

You describe symptoms that need monitoring. It wouldn't hurt to go buy some Tylan to have on hand just in case these young chickens begin to be lethargic and the respiratory symptoms become worse. Watch for facial swelling, discharge from eyes and nares, and the sneezing to become more frequent.

If the raspy sounds become less, you can assume it's due to normal voice changes. As long as these two are active and have good appetites, I would just continue to keep an eye on them.
