My neighbor knows someone who might be giving me all the fencing I need to re-do my runs this summer for FREE (that's over 300 feet of 4' tall fencing!), because he owns a junkyard. I've been holding off until I know whether or not I'll be getting it - but I'm supposed to hear from him tomorrow, so I'll get them separated out regardless.
I'm putting some in my incubator tonight too. Some of my broodies have a few eggs too. The little guy is eating well and loves his little bitty water bowl. I've been feeding him a wet mash of turkey pellets with vitamine suppliments and cut up greens floating in the water. Growing fast already!
The hookbill ducks are so cute! I wish I could get some hatching eggs for them. I noticed a picture of one in my duck book (by Holderread) and ever since I really wanted some, particularly since they are so rare.
I've had this breed on my wish list for a few years now.
I almost bought a pair of white Hookbills form DH but decided
I'd rather have the colored ones.
I almost bought a pair of the Whites from Holderreads this past Fall too, but I already had an order for Hookbill ducklings in for this spring, and I decided to wait and see what I get.
I'm not sure how the genetics work, but I know that someone here on BYC has hatched Whites from a pen of Solid Duskies and Bibbeds. I want all three varieties, so even if I don't get a White one, there's always the possibility of hatching one!
