Hookworms

I had a few sick birds, bloody stools, lethargic, not e/d, sour crop too. I emptied their crops with held food and water for 12 hours. (Took them with me to work, to monitor) Found hooks on the fecal. Dewormed with fenbendazole. Everybody’s better, but I am finding conflicting info that chickens are even susceptible to hooks, is that correct? And fenben deforms for rounds and tapes only? I guess I’m asking what parasites are chickens susceptible to and what dewormers cover which parasites?

Yes, chickens can get hookworms but it doesnt happen often. You can see hooks in poultry tapeworm eggs. Are you sure you wern't looking at tapeworm eggs?
Fenbendazole will take care of all types of roundworms that chickens can get. However it's best to use a product containing paraziquantel to get rid of tapeworms. Most folks use Equimax equine paste to take care of tapeworms including me. I've used Zimecterin Gold equine paste in the past as well.
In my experience, fenbenzadole didnt treat tapeworms and albendazole is losing its effectiveness in treating tapeworms, however it will still treat flukes as well as praziquantel.

Thank you! I am pretty sure on the hookworms I had had someone double check me. Wondering if it could have been canine hooks, since they free range.

Could be from a dog or cat, they are zoonotic.
